New Hope at Calvary's Mission Statement
New Hope at Calvary Church exists to welcome people on a journey as we follow Jesus Christ together, and model His message of love, hope, and reconciliation in our local community and beyond as we magnify God’s name.
New Hope at Calvary Church is located in the city of New Britain near Hartford Connecticut. New Britain is a distinct city that offers many opportunities for exploring the richness of the city’s history and culture, its parks and institutions. However, as with any urban city, drugs, crime, unemployment, and a general sense of depression and anxiety are common problems that people face.
We believe that such problems are inherently spiritual and relational, and that having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is an essential first step on a journey towards attaining spiritual, mental, and physical well-being. As we work to build our community, we discover how to share the love of Christ by building one another up and strive to reach out to our city and beyond, bringing the hope of Jesus Christ into their lives.
We are a missional church within the Assemblies of God tradition that seeks to be relevant, contemporary, and Biblical within an increasingly post-Christian generation. We also embrace diversity and multiculturalism, and seek ways towards bringing about unity in the midst of diversity.
New Hope at Calvary originated with the work of founding Pastor David Siriano in 1980, who established the church Calvary Christian Center. From 1994 to 2014, Pastor Bob Santuesanio lead the congregation to its current location in New Britain. In 2015, the congregation voted in Pastors Alan and Jessy Totire. In 2016, prompted by the Holy Spirit, the pastors led the congregation towards embracing a missional vision corresponding with a name change, which was successfully passed in March of 2017.
